'Geological eras' are subdivisions of the time that has passed since the formation of our planet

Life, in its most basic forms, such as bacteria and algae, appeared very early on Earth: its evolution, and the catastrophic events on a planetary scale that caused massive extinctions, have marked the fundamental scans of Earth's time. In the northern hemisphere, where the continental plates are arranging themselves in their current position, glacial and tropical periods alternate, determining both the evolution and the migratory movements of species that are ever closer to the current ones. Starting from about 4 million years ago, when the most direct ancestors of man appear, the dating is often based on the typology of artifacts found in association with hominid fossils, in other words a chronology of "human" culture begins. . This causes an apparent contradiction when comparing the cultural dating with the objective one, obtained from stratigraphic or radiochemical data. Lion Archaeozoic it begins 4 million years ago, a period to which the oldest rock formation discovered in the inland area of North America is attributed, namely in Canada. There is talk of a type of metamorphic rock, a gneiss, which dates back to 3,962 million years ago.
In Greenland other examples of rocks dating back to the same period have been found, the location of the discovery is Godtaab. From the geological studies it is therefore deduced that about 4 billion years ago the creation of the continental earth crust was taking place, which differs from the basaltic one or the innermost part.
The Archaeozoic Era was characterized by the presence of the first forms of life. The first fossil finds of marine microorganisms dating back to 3.5 billion years ago date back to this period. The importance of the findings from South Africa and Western Australia is double. First of all because it makes us understand how even then the first formations of organic matter began and then for the understanding of how the atmosphere was increasingly going towards the increase of oxygen.

Geological time is the time that has elapsed from the origin of the Earth until today.
Its duration is enormously greater (4 and a half billion years) than historical time, so if we could reduce the entire history of the Earth to 24 hours, modern man would have appeared only in the last minute before midnight.
The geological time scale, created using absolute and relative dating, is made up of eras, each of which is subdivided into periods, including further subdivisions: epochs and ages.
The graph proposed here does not respect the correct proportions (visible in the column on the right), since eras and periods have had different durations, and the absolute values may vary, even if not substantially, compared to those proposed by other authors.
