Top dressing of peppers and eggplants

It is important for a peppers and eggplant gardener to provide them with good nutrition throughout the season. These plants love care and attention: for them, the need for potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus and other trace elements is observed at the time of flowering and fruiting. Not against feeding, and very small bushes still in pots for seedlings.

To enjoy the high yields of vegetables, it is recommended to apply fertilizers at all stages of growing and, above all, do not forget to do this at the very beginning, when the first real leaves appeared. Some summer residents, referring to their experience, in the future prefer to feed the plants at the stage of planting them in open ground, for others it is more convenient to water the beds with fertilizers diluted in water. Everyone has a choice, because there are not so few ways to increase the yield.

One feature should be taken into account: spraying is contraindicated for peppers and eggplants, they absorb all useful substances through the root system. Therefore, be careful, and if fertilizers accidentally get on the leaves, they must be washed off with water.

Top dressing of seedlings of peppers and eggplants

Experienced gardeners adhere to two-time feeding of eggplant and pepper seedlings: at the stage of formation of real leaves and about 1.5 weeks before planting in the ground.

The first feeding of seedlings

To develop immunity and active plant growth, nitrogen-potassium fertilizers are used. So, the first feeding can be of the following options:

  • First option. Dilute about 20-30 grams of Kemira-Lux in about 10 liters of water.
  • Second option. 30 g of potassium nitrate is applied under the roots, having previously dissolved in a 10-liter bucket of water.
  • The third option. The mixture, for the preparation of which you need 30 g of foskamide and 15 g of superphosphate, is diluted in 10 liters of water.
  • Fourth option. To feed eggplant seedlings, prepare a mixture of 3 tablespoons of superphosphate, 2 teaspoons of potassium sulfate, and 1 teaspoon of ammonium nitrate. Designed for a volume of 10 liters of water.
  • Fifth option. Pepper seedlings are fertilized with the same dressing, but prepared in slightly different proportions - 3 teaspoons of potassium sulfate, 3 tablespoons of superphosphate, 2 teaspoons of saltpeter. The mixture must be diluted in water - 10 liters.

Second feeding of seedlings

Along with nitrogen and potassium, phosphorus and other macro- and microelements should be present in the second feeding.

  • First option. Dissolve 20-30 g of "Kemira-Lux" in water, it will need 10 liters.
  • Second option. 20 grams of "Kristalon" for the same amount of water.
  • The third option. A mixture consisting of 65-75 grams of superphosphate and 25-30 grams of potassium salt must be dissolved in 10 liters of water.

Fertilizing the beds for peppers and eggplants

Summer residents who do not very often visit the planting of vegetables, the method of applying top dressing directly to the ground is suitable. It must be poured into the holes before planting plants on the street.

Fertilizers for eggplant

  • First option. 15 grams of ammonium sulfate, 30 grams of superphosphate and 30 grams of wood ash are mixed and scattered on a square meter of earth.
  • Second option. 30 grams of superphosphate, 15 grams of potassium chloride and the same amount of ammonium sulfate, mixing, are scattered on 1 square meter of earth.

An additional 400 grams of humus can be added to each hole.

Fertilizers for peppers

  • First option. Mix 30 grams of ash and superphosphate, sprinkle top dressing on 1 square meter of earth.
  • Second option. 40 g of superphosphate is mixed with 15-20 g of potassium salt. Top dressing is calculated per square meter of the garden bed.
  • The third option. For each hole, a liter of top dressing is intended, for this half a liter of mullein is dissolved in water heated to a warm state, and the volume is brought to 10 liters.

Before planting the seedlings, it will be useful to add 200 grams of a mixture consisting of equal parts of humus and earth to the holes.

Root dressing of peppers and eggplants after planting in the beds

The summer season for the gardener is a hot season. Growing vegetables takes time and effort, but the joy of the result obtained covers all the inconveniences that I had to experience over the summer. Eggplants and peppers need to be fed quite often - about 3-5 times with an interval of 2 weeks. Top dressing should be at a temperature comfortable for the plants (22-25 degrees), this is very important.

In 13-15 days after planting the bushes in an open area, the first top dressing should be carried out. During this time, they managed to take root and begin to lack nutrients.

Having prepared the fertilizer, when watering, you need to observe its dosage: a liter can of solution is applied under each bush.

Top dressing of peppers and eggplants during flowering and before fruiting

  • First option. Two glasses of bird droppings or a liter jar of mullein are mixed with a glass of wood ash and diluted in 10 liters of water.
  • Second option. 25-30 grams of nitrate is poured into a container with 10 liters of water, mixed.
  • The third option. A liter of nettle herb infusion for one eggplant or pepper bush (More in the article "Organic fertilizers from grass")
  • Fourth option. 2 teaspoons of superphosphate and the same amount of urea are placed in a bucket of water and 10 liters of water are poured, stirred until dissolved.
  • Fifth option. Dissolve 25-30 grams of superphosphate in water (10 liters) and add a liter jar of mullein there. After mixing, the fertilizer is ready for use.
  • Sixth option. For a 10 liter container of water, you need to take a teaspoon of potassium salt and urea, 2 tablespoons of superphosphate.
  • Seventh option. 500 grams of fresh nettle, one tablespoon of ash and a liter jar of mullein are poured with plain water and infused for 1 week. Water needs 10 liters.

Top dressing of peppers and eggplants during fruiting

Weather conditions play an important role in the development of plants. If you succeed in a rainy and cool summer, then for peppers and eggplants you will need 1/5 more potassium than usual. Wood ash is a source of this important trace element, it is scattered in a half-liter jar per 1 square meter of the garden.

  • First option. 2 teaspoons of potassium salt and the same amount of superphosphate per 10 liters of water.
  • Second option. 1 teaspoon of potassium sulfate in 10 liters of water.
  • The third option. Stir a glass of bird droppings and a liter of mullein in water, add 1 tablespoon of urea to 10 liters of water.
  • Fourth option. Stir 2 cups of chicken manure with 2 tablespoons of nitroammophos and stir in 10 liters of water.
  • Fifth option. 75 g of urea, 75 g of superphosphate, 15-20 g of potassium chloride per 10 liters of water.
  • Sixth option. 40 g of superphosphate is dissolved in 10 liters of water.

The deficiency of microelements in the soil cannot but affect the productivity of pepper and eggplant. To rectify the situation, you need to feed them either with the "Riga mixture" or with a complex of mineral fertilizers.

A systematic approach to protecting and feeding peppers and eggplants

Adding an article to a new collection

Processing and fertilizing peppers and eggplants is an integral part of growing these crops. Today we propose to discuss the system of protection and feeding in all details.

To get a really good harvest, you need to regularly fertilize the plants and timely treat them with protective preparations throughout the growing season.

Eggplant feeding scheme

Eggplant responds positively to an even supply of nutrients.

How to feed eggplant seedlings

With a weak growth of seedlings, we feed them twice: when the first true leaf grows and in the phase of 4 leaves.

  • dilute bird droppings with water (1:20) or manure (1:10), insist for 2 - 4 days, add 50 g of wood ash to a bucket of solution
  • dissolve in a bucket of water 50 g of Superphosphate, 10 g of ammonium nitrate (or 20 g of Urea), 15 g of potassium sulfate
  • Ammophos - 20 g per 10 liters of water.

It is advisable to pour with organic matter once, and again with "mineral water". Moisten the substrate before feeding.

For eggplant seedlings, spraying with immunity stimulants is useful: Zircon is good for root development and relieving stress in the heat, and Epin Extra helps to cope with a cold snap. Strict adherence to dosage instructions is essential.

Root dressing of eggplants in the open field

After 10 - 15 days after planting the seedlings, we carry out fertilizing watering on moist soil. We add half a liter of solution under each plant. Then pour with clean water.

  • slurry (diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 8, insist 2 - 4 days)
  • bird droppings (water infusion 1:20 we keep for 2 - 4 days) plus 2 glasses of wood ash per bucket of solution
  • herbal infusion (diluted with water 1: 8), put 50 g of Superphosphate per 10 l of liquid
  • for 10 liters of water: 50 g of Superphosphate, 20 g of potassium sulfate, 15 g of ammonium nitrate (it is without nitrates, if there is no nitrate, then we take 30 g of Urea)
  • Agricola for tomatoes, peppers, eggplants (according to instructions).

After two weeks, we repeat the feeding. The alternation will be successful: for the first time organic, for the second time - "mineral water". This way, the plants will get more nitrogen at first, and then more phosphorus and potassium. It is useful to add microfertilizer Mag-Bor to the second feeding - 20 g per 10 liters of water.

We give out the third fertilizing watering at the beginning of fruiting, increasing the dose of phosphorus and potassium by one and a half times. If the plants are very powerful, fattening, nitrogen can be dispensed with.

Foliar dressing

There is an opinion that the fluffy leaves of eggplant do not tolerate dampness, so they should not be sprayed. This is not true. Foliar dressing is useful for eggplants if the dosages and application rules are followed.

We carry out the treatments in the morning, while there is no sun. It is possible in the evening, but not too late, so that the plants do not go damp at night, but have time to dry out. When spraying, we try to cover not only the upper, but also the lower part of the leaf plates. Liberally moisten each bush with a fine spray, but do not bring it to drip.

It is advisable to separate root and non-root feeds by time, leaving a weekly interval between them (but this rule is not strictly required).

We give the first foliar feeding at the initial stage of bud formation. We repeat 2 - 3 more times with an interval of 2 weeks.

We prepare the solution based on one of the preparations (according to the instructions attached to them):

  • Agricola for tomatoes, peppers, eggplants
  • Multiflor for tomatoes, peppers, eggplant
  • Micromix
  • Quotes.

It is useful to add immunity stimulants - Epin Extra or Zircon to the solution for foliar feeding. The former supports plants well in cool weather, the latter helps to adapt to the heat.
With the systematic (from seeds and seedlings) use of stimulants: eggplants bloom earlier, the early and general harvest increases, the content of pesticides and other harmful chemicals decreases, but more vitamins and other useful components accumulate.
On eggplants, the use of preparations of the "Ovary" type is effective - first on the buds, secondly when the first flowers open.

Top dressing during flowering

During the flowering period, eggplants growing in the open field are most in need of phosphorus and potassium. Experienced agronomists at this stage prefer to use organic matter: green infusion, manure.

When choosing mineral fertilizers for crops growing in open ground, it is best to use the following mixture: ammonium nitrate + superphosphate + potassium sulfate.

To stimulate the development of new ovaries, you can additionally feed the blue ones with a solution of boric acid, and in the period between flowering and the formation of the first fruits, fertilize with an ash solution.

Top dressing during fruit ripening

At this stage, feeding the crop growing in the open field is required to obtain a high-quality and abundant harvest. The most useful substances in this case will be potassium, phosphorus, boron, iron.

In organic matter, one should give preference to an ash solution, and among mineral fertilizers, opt for a mixture of superphosphate and potassium sulfate.

Types of dressings

The quality of the harvest of peppers and eggplants directly depends on the regularity of dressings.
Crops prefer light soil, into which both organic matter and
mineral and chemical fertilizers. Plants don't like being sprayed with nutrients
compositions, therefore, only peri-root top dressing is carried out for them.

It is more expedient to apply fertilizers to the soil in the form of aqueous solutions: then the culture assimilates them faster.

Mixtures for feeding eggplants and peppers should be warm. During the season, there should be at least 6 dressings, but it is important not to allow an excess of nitrogen. The plant oversaturated with it after flowering "fattens" and gives a weak harvest.

For the first time, eggplants and peppers are fed at the stage of growing seedlings, more precisely, a nutritious soil saturated with superphosphate and potassium complexes is prepared for germinating seeds, but they can be replaced with wood ash. The mixture promotes the rapid emergence of sprouts and the growth of green mass.

The next feeding is carried out when 2 true leaves appear on the seedlings or after picking it.

Fertilization from:

  • 10-12 l of water
  • 1 tbsp. l. urea
  • 0.25 l mullein.

Normally developing seedlings are fertilized with a mixture made in the proportion:

  • 10-12 l of water
  • 2 tbsp. l. superphosphate
  • 1 tsp. Potassium sulfate.

Another type of fertilizer for seedlings is an infusion of previously used tea leaves. It is poured with boiling water, and after cooling it is used instead of watering. The saturation of the soil under the seedlings with potassium and calcium is facilitated by irrigation with a composition prepared from the shell of 10 raw eggs, filled with 3 liters of boiling water and infused for 6 days. The soil is watered after straining.

To feed it, you can use fertilizers:

  • "Kemira Lux" (20-30 g per bucket of water)
  • "Kristalon" (20 g per bucket of water).

Nutrient requirements

Plants prefer nutritious, light soil. In this case, the best option is the alternation of organic matter and complex mineral fertilizers. In total, feeding is carried out up to six times per season. Nutrients must be supplied at all stages of growth. Fertilization after transplanting pepper and eggplant into open ground is of particular importance. During this period, they need to provide the proper conditions for quick adaptation, intense flowering, ovary formation and fruit ripening.

It is imperative that the nutrient content of the soil is maintained at all times. Easily absorbed aqueous solutions that do not provoke root burns. Vegetable crops need potassium and nitrogen. Despite this, you should not abuse nitrogen-containing dressings.

As soon as the flowering season begins, these fertilizers are canceled. An abundance of nitrogen can lead to the fact that the ovaries begin to fall off and it will not be possible to get a crop at all.

Eggplant fertilization rules

Use all fertilizers in strict dosage. If you notice that some element is missing or, conversely, there is a lot of it in the soil, adjust their content with fertilizers, which contain the necessary substances. For example, if there is an excess of nitrogen, pour superphosphate or ash on the beds, and if there is a deficiency of this important element - with urea or mullein.

If the site is located on poor soils, then the number of fertilizing will have to be increased. They will need to be carried out every 10 days. Water the eggplant at the root and do not let the solution get on the leaves.
