It is hard to believe that these amazingly beautiful plants do not require special conditions and grow without problems even on sparse sandy soils.
Cleoma grows throughout the planet in the temperate zone and slightly to the south. Its inflorescences are of a very original shape; on the flower bed, white, pink and purple petals invariably attract attention. The smell is also unusual: in the wild, the plant is pollinated with the help of bats, this explains the aroma of its flowers.
The flowering period of cleoma lasts several months. At this time, it is advisable to water the plants infrequently, but abundantly. If the land around is not mulched, then it is loosened. Flowering can be prolonged by feeding the plant with a biostimulant.
Most varieties of this plant are excellent honey plants. Plant a goldenrod in your garden and it will soon be filled with the cheerful buzzing of bees. Caring for a perennial is simple - it grows well on poor soils and is undemanding to watering.
Goldenrod grows rapidly and covers vast territories. During the flowering period, dense and beautifully shaped inflorescences shine with gold, attracting the eye from afar. Goldenrod blooms for several months.
The plant has long been used in garden design. It will revive rockeries, drapes the far corner. In addition, the perennial has medicinal properties.
This herb is extremely hardy and not demanding on the composition of the soil. In garden design, the tenacious is used in rock gardens and as a ground cover plant.
The height of the bushes ranges from 5 cm to half a meter. Flowers are usually blue and blue, there are other types. To keep the plant looking fresh during the dry season, it is advisable to water it regularly. The flowering time can be extended by timely removal of drying inflorescences.
The grass grows very quickly. But you can fix a certain territory behind it by making a spectacular fence of stones.
Perennial cornflower is a charming plant with a fairly long stem. Its openwork leaves are decorative in themselves, and a flower of a delicate blue hue, consisting of many funnels, simply cannot leave you indifferent.
However, in garden cornflowers, the color of flowers is very diverse: at exhibitions there are white, scarlet, golden and red varieties. And yet the traditional blue-violet gamut is more familiar and nicer to gardeners. The cornflower blooms from June, the inflorescences of one plant are formed for quite a long time.
At their summer cottage, the culture is placed in a sunny place on sandy loam and sandy soils. The root system of cornflowers grows quickly enough, therefore, a perennial is considered a weed in many countries.
The people call oregano forest mint. It grows in dry, sunny places: forest edges, hills and meadows. The grass has a pleasant appearance of pink, sometimes purple inflorescences. Oregano is used in folk medicine and cosmetology.
Emerald foliage and reddish stems create the perfect backdrop for low flower beds, even when the oregano isn't in bloom. Plants are planted in mixborders and rockeries, and also placed between berry bushes. Miniature glades of flowering oregano bushes really give the garden a forest flavor.
This unusual southern plant with huge flowers may well spend the summer in your garden. In temperate latitudes, hibiscus must be removed to a basement or other cool room for several months.
The main condition for the growth of a perennial is good lighting. Hibiscus strongly dislike shade, but light sandy soils are fine for them.
Plants look great in a rock garden next to roses and lavender. The stem can grow up to 1.5 m, while the bush has a fairly compact shape.
An interesting feature of hibiscus is that its flowers fly around early, but new buds immediately appear in their place. Thus, the lush flowering continues for a long time, delighting the owners of the surrounding summer cottages.
Gaillardia can withstand severe droughts in nature. Cultivars are placed in the garden in the sunniest areas. The plant is quite tall, with straight stems, pubescent toothed leaves. During the flowering period, Gaillardia is covered with graceful baskets of a purple hue.
The terry forms of the plant are especially spectacular. The flowering of Gaillardia is very abundant, it can be extended by cutting off wilted inflorescences. The rest of the care is simple - watering in hot weather and periodic loosening. You can mulch the soil around the perennial. In this case, you will have to water even less often.

Hello dear friends!
A beautiful and at the same time useful plant sandy immortelle (Helichrysum arenarium) is called another name - cmin. This culture is ideal for inclusion in the pharmaceutical garden on your personal plot, since, in addition to medicinal properties, the immortelle is highly decorative and is able to decorate any landscape.
This herb from the numerous Asteraceae family is found not only in cultivated form, but also in the wild. Gelikhrizum (another name for this plant) grows in different biotopes (pine forests, steppe habitats, along the edges of forests and wastelands) in Europe, the North Caucasus, Central Asia and Siberia.
The immortelle belongs to perennials and can reach a height of 15 to 40 cm. The aboveground part is covered with a whitish tomentose pubescence. On the erect, branched in the upper part of the stem, there are successive lanceolate leaves.
The flowers of the immortelle are small yellow, yellow-orange, red-brown shades collected in complex inflorescences (spherical baskets form a corymbose panicle). Gelikhrizum is characterized by a long flowering period - from June to September.
For this, plants choose the most open areas. They should not only be well illuminated by the sun's rays, but also have time to warm up in a day.
The plant is easy to propagate by both seed and vegetative methods. In the first case, seed buds are mixed with sand to achieve more even distribution over the area. The distance between adjacent rows should be at least 25 cm and no more than 40 cm. You can use a group planting. In this case, the "spots" of the cmin are made 20x20 cm in size.
Since the seeds of the immortelle are very small, the depth of their placement in the ground is only 0.5 cm. Sowing is best in the evening, in the absence of wind. The optimal sowing time is May. In the first year of life in plants grown from seeds, only a root rosette of leaves grows. Such specimens bloom next year.
For vegetative propagation, rosettes of leaves with outlined roots are used. They are pinned into moist soil and watered regularly at first. Once every 3-4 years plant immortelle sandy must be seated. This is necessary to keep the horticultural population strong and avoid shredding of the specimens.
Sandy immortelle belongs to the category of plants that are extremely unpretentious to soils. In nature, this plant often grows on poor sandy and rocky substrates. In gardens, when cultivating cmin, it is also easy to put up with a lack of nutrients in the soil. Only heavy clay substrates are a contraindication for this culture.
In order to create the most comfortable and favorable conditions for growth and flowering when planting plants, it is advisable to add peat and sand to the substrate. Cmin reaches its best development on soils with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction.
Despite the fact that the immortelle grows well on poor soils, it is allowed to feed the plantings with minerals once or twice during the growing season. It is desirable that one such dressing be in early spring (before the formation of buds or at the very beginning of budding).
Due to the high concentration of biologically significant compounds (flavonoids, glycosides, steroids, carotenoids, resins, tannins, aromatic compounds), the sand immortelle is an officially recognized medicinal plant.
As a medicinal raw material, inflorescences are harvested from cmin, which are collected at the very beginning of the blooming of flowers. In medical practice, the preparations of this plant (infusion, decoction, dry and liquid extracts, tincture) are used in the treatment of liver diseases, as well as the biliary tract and the gallbladder itself. In addition, gelichrizum has a calming effect and enhances the secretory function of the digestive glands of the stomach, as well as the pancreas.
Sandy immortelle has found wide application in landscaping. It fits perfectly into the composition of alpine slides, is used as a ground cover plant, and is also included in the composition of flower crops of ridges and borders.
Considerable value plant immortelle sandy presents for floristry. The cut off inflorescences of the immortelle are used in the preparation of winter dry bouquets. For this purpose, the branches are cut with inflorescences at the stage of the beginning of the opening of the buds. Dry them in a ventilated place, hanging them down with inflorescences. See you, friends!
The violet begins to bloom very early. The colorful carpet runners of the pansies look amazing. They will look very decorative if primroses or other spring bulbous flowers are planted next to them.
Viola can be used for landscaping terraces and balconies. Garden vases with pansies will not leave anyone indifferent. Thanks to the many varieties, perfect flower arrangements can be created. Many landscape design experts recommend combining wild and cultivated species of pansies. Field viola can be grown in the garden. Violet tricolor is almost always present in Moorish lawns. Scented violet is a popular groundcover ideal for shady areas. Regardless of the type, viola captivates with its beauty, original shapes and colors.
The personal plot does not always have the necessary acidity. Some gardens are pH neutral, others are acidic. Not all plants can live on such soils, but they emit a number of flowers that cannot live on alkaline or neutral environments, they need increased soil acidity:
In addition to these bright representatives of the acidic pH of the environment, there is a list of plants that are unable to germinate on alkaline soil substrates:
In addition to these well-known flowers and plants, ferns, Cassiopeia, various types of chrysanthemums, elegant zinnias, cornflowers, forget-me-nots, heather grow with pleasure on acidic soils. Magnolia does not see its existence without increased pH. Thus, a large number of plants grow on acidic soil, you just need to know which species they are and plant them correctly.
Despite its delicate appearance, it can grow on poor soil and in cold weather. Plant height about 40 cm, width - about 15 cm. Flowering begins in July and lasts until September. The flowers are pinkish in color with a dark center. The plant can be of two types: perennials, which are used for a rock garden, and annuals for decorating flower beds. Crepis flowers can be used in bouquets. Inflorescences are single or paired. It is sown with seeds. Seeds are sown in late April - early May in open ground. Seedlings should be thinned out. The distance between plants should be no more than 20 cm. Grows well in sunny places.
To emphasize the splendor of the entrance, pyramidal trees are planted near it: spruce, fir, for small areas - pyramidal junipers.
Conifers of blue forms are especially welcome in ornamental gardening. Botanical descriptions include the following forms: glauca - gray, coerulea - blue, argentea - silvery. The blue tint gives the needles an excess layer of wax, which always covers it to one degree or another. In some cases, this sign is due to light stripes - places of accumulation of stomata (breathing holes) that stretch along the needles.
Against the background of a well-groomed lawn, boulders and junipers will look great, but they will noticeably complicate its cutting.
A composition of 3-5 pines will harmoniously combine with milkweed, steppe grasses and sedums, which will turn crimson-red in autumn.
In the rock garden, miniature varieties of conifers with green and gray needles are often planted.
With the help of groups of conifers, it is possible to solve the problem of naturally joining a rocky garden to the main one.
On small areas (up to 20 sq. M.) Use one or two varieties, on large areas - three or four. Place the lower grades in the foreground.
